Those of you who clicked through from any web-link on last month's e-newsletter may have noticed that the links went to our new website that went live just before the newsletter was issued. We believe that the modifications to the site will make it even easier for installers to get access to the information they require quickly. There are plenty of manufacturers' datasheets including the new products featured here. You will also find a PDF version of the current catalogue which will be joined by a page-flip version very soon. The site is certainly an improvement - however we would appreciate your feedback and suggestions! |

A novel product we spotted recently - available on a 30-day free trial - is a nice piece of software from checkmysystems.com It automatically checks the health and status of a networked system including connection failures, hard disk status, time accuracy and reports when cameras are faulty, disconnected or tampered with, as well as record duration stats and alarms status. All of this is done remotely and can be set up to check all your sites from just one screen. This information can increase the chances of fixing problems on a single visit and reduce the cost of maintaining remote sites. Here's the link :- www.checkmysystems.com |

Dallmeier has developed PRemote-HD a special method of transmitting HDTV streams. Dallmeier's PRemote-HD uses transcoding to enable the transmission of HD and megapixel streams even at low bandwidths. The new system is particularly useful for locations where images need to be recorded at highest quality but have only a low bandwidth network available, for example DSL networks with a 128 kbit upload. PRemote-HD is available for Dallmeier DMS and DLS recorders as well as the VideoNetBox and Smatrix. It is possible to subsequently activate PRemote-HD on systems that have already been purchased once they have been updated to the appropriate software version. |

Nortech has introduced the Ievo fingerprint reader into its access control range. The company believes that it has found a product that successfully addresses the cost and reliability issues related to biometrics. Capable of functioning in the harshest environmental conditions Ievo readers have already been implemented at various high-profile sites, including the Commonwealth Games. The Ievo reader integrates with Nortech’s PC-based access control software, Norpass3, which provides a comprehensive set of features. These two products combine to offer comprehensive technical solutions whilst maintaining hassle-free installation and user-friendliness, according to Nortech. |

ATA over Ethernet (AoE) provides a highly secure transfer of video files to a separate storage device for backup and long term archiving. As the system is point-to-point, utilising MAC-MAC address ethernet connections, it is highly efficient, allowing data to be transferred at high speeds with minimal use of the system's processing power. The AoE RAID utilises 3.5” SATA disks. There are no constraints to how big an AoE storage network can be or how many Video Servers can be attached to the storage network. Each time a new RAID device is added the processing power is increased and therefore aggregate throughput and performance of the storage system is expanded to provide an unlimited storage solution. The devices are compatible with a range of NetVu Connected cameras and Video Servers including the CamVu Range of IP Cameras and Mini-domes, SD Advanced, SD Excel and DV-IP NV1, NV4 & NV8 Video Servers. |

Samsung has added to their SCP range of PTZ domes with models that capitalise on the advanced technology incorporated in their W-V and SV-V DSP chipsets. The W-V chipset provides cameras with the ability to capture superb quality colour images at up to 600 TV lines. They also incorporate Super Dynamic Range (SSDR) which automatically lightens the dark areas within a scene allowing an operator to ‘view’ objects in the shadows. The SV-V chipset shares all the features of the W-V chipset, but also provides cameras with Wide Dynamic Range and Progressive scan to allow them to deliver outstanding picture quality even in the most demanding of applications. Another feature of the SV-V chipset is the addition of an Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) capability, which is able to perform functions such as appear/disappear detection. |

Pelco has just announced the release of its new state-of-the-art imaging science - SureVision. SureVision combines Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), low-light and anti-bloom capabilities into one highly intelligent technology. The result is a camera that’s easy-to-install and use and handles light nearly as well as the human eye automatically adjusting to deliver exceptional detail and the best image possible in even the most challenging lighting conditions. According to Pelco "The idea that the more pixels you have the better the image quality is no longer true. It’s not the number of pixels that matters it is the quality of the image. Video security cameras can overcome some lighting challenges but when one scene contains bright, shaded and intensely light areas all together image quality suffers. That’s why this technology is an absolute game-changer when it comes to imaging science. SureVision handles light so well it outperforms cameras with a much higher pixel count.” Full technical information and datasheets will be available next month. |

The new Siemens IP camera range includes box, fixed dome, high-speed dome and vandal-resistant models. The box and fixed dome range are available in VGA, 1.3 MP and 2.0 MP (full HD) versions. The vandal-resistant model is a full HD camera that conforms to IP66. This model also includes integrated IR illuminators that allow it to continue producing clear pictures even in total darkness. The 1.3MP box and 1.3MP fixed dome models feature wide dynamic range allowing them to produce excellent images even in difficult high-contrast lighting conditions. All cameras offer integrated motion detection and incorporate H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG video streams simultaneously. The new cameras also support the increasingly popular ONVIF network protocol making them easy to integrate with third party equipment in IP installations. Full details and product datasheets should be available next month. |
