With Thailand experiencing the most extreme flooding in generations, component manufacturers have been hit really hard and this in turn has had a huge impact on hard drive manufacturers. About a quarter of all hard drives are manufactured in Thailand and it appears that all major vendors will be affected in some way. Recently Western Digital (WD) announced that its hard drive production facilities in Thailand were shutting down due to the extreme amount of flooding. WD previously said that it may see a revenue decline of about 60% in the current quarter and some reports suggest that they will be able to produce only half of their planned quota of hard disc drives. The situation is changing very rapidly with some manufacturers issuing interim price lists whilst others are holding firm. Please phone our sales team for the latest information and stock availability. |

Bosch employees have raised over £61,300 for BBC Children in Need. To mark Bosch’s 125th anniversary, the company decided to support Children in Need by organising various fund-raising activities - from climbing the highest mountain peaks in Yorkshire to swimming 125 lengths of a pool in 125 minutes and cycling 125 miles from Worcester to Denham. The Security Division of the UK group made their contribution to the grand total with their sponsored walk around London. |

The new Digital Sentry® network video recorder (NVR) is optimised by Pelco to deliver the essential hardware support for the DS NVs video management software (VMS) without the extra cost or risk of integrating hardware and software. Boosted by the 2nd Generation Intel i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM, Digital Sentry NVR provides an optimal combination of processing power and reliability to meet the demands of HD video recording and playback operations. The system is powered to support up to 128 combined IP and analogue video streams, with up to 64 analogue cameras supported via the optional ENC5416 direct-attached encoder. Analogue streams are also supported using Pelco and third-party encoders. The DS NVR functions as a stand-alone system or as part of a network of servers, monitored from the DS ControlPoint user interface. The system can be deployed solely as a network video recorder, as a digital video recorder (DVR), or as a hybrid NVR. |

Samsung’s new HD-SDI cameras deliver all the benefits of Full HD over analogue cabling. The capture, viewing and recording of high definition images has been synonymous with IP network systems. The technology built into Samsung’s new HD-SDI cameras and DVR allows the transmission of uncompressed and non-packetised Full HD (1080P) video over analogue cabling. One of the main benefits of HD-SDI technology is that there is zero loss of image data and zero latency when viewing images. The SCB-6000 fixed camera and SCD-6080 internal dome are both true day/night cameras which can capture and transmit Full HD images up to 100 metres over analogue cabling in real-time at 25 frames per second. Both models feature Super Noise Reduction (SSNRIII) technology, Samsung Super Dynamic Range (SSDR) and Highlight Compensation whilst delivering over five times the image resolution that standard definition analogue cameras are able to achieve. |

The Bosch 700 Series Hybrid and Network HD Recorders offer top-of-the-line performance and adaptability. Equipped with four front replaceable hard drives and extensive integration features, the 700 Series is ideal for medium to large scale systems. Available in both IP-only and hybrid models, the 700 Series can handle even the most challenging CCTV applications - without excessive demands on installers or operators. With recording of 1080p (30pps) and 720p (60pps) for IP cameras, as well as SD and analogue 4CIF cameras, Bosch’s 700 Series Recorders capture all the details. More detail usually means increased bandwidth, larger storage requirements and increased costs — but not with the 700 Series which utilises advanced H.264 compression technology to reduce bandwidth and storage requirements by up to 30% or more compared to traditional MPEG-4 systems. |
