The proof of the pudding - so they say is... well not only do we promote buying quality branded products we also believe that buying quality branded equipment is crucial for the critical components of a business. That's why when we recently replaced our servers we opted for IBM with Intel quad core processors and Cisco routers. And while we were at 'IT' we have performed a major software upgrade to our back-office SAP Business One. The transfer of data etc. took place over a weekend after a successful trial so business would not be affected externally. Internally? Well it means no more egg-timers for the sales team! |

Dallmeier has launched an iPhone app that will allow users access to images transmitted from their CCTV system via their phone. The Dallmeier Mobile Video Center has been designed for customers to access live images as well as the corresponding recordings on the go. The App has the typical iPhone intuitive operation including multi-touch zoom. Separate settings for 3G and Wifi operation can be made. The app is available from the iTunes store. System requirements are either a Dallmeier iPhone server or an activated PRemote licence on the Dallmeier recording system. |

The Siemens Building Technologies Division has launched an iPhone app for its Download Center. It offers iPhone and iPad users easy access to the Division's Download Center which currently contains more than 9,000 documents, including technical specifications. Apple device owners can use the app any time and anywhere to read the documents of their choice. |

The CamVu720 Series are high definition IP Cameras offering up to 2 megapixel image streams in a choice of compression formats. With advanced features such as ICR, analytics support and direct configuration from associated video servers, the CamVu720 Series contains a powerful suite of enterprise-scale capabilities. The Series comprises a box style IP camera, IP internal dome (PoE only) and a vandal-resistant mini IP dome. Both the box camera and the vandal-resistant dome offer either 12vDC or PoE (Power over Ethernet) operation. |

Aimed at all small to medium-sized installations, Bosch have released the first in their 'family' of products - the small business solution. In what Bosch says "bring professional quality security into the realm of applications such as small business, retail and schools. The Bosch small business solutions portfolio includes a complete range of imaging and storage products at an attractive price". The solution includes both analogue, IP and a High Definition (HD) option using their IP 200 Series which is now available at 720p. Samsung has added two new ONVIF compliant encoders to its fast growing iPOLiS portfolio of network friendly products. The four channel SPE-400 and sixteen channel rack-mounted SPE-1600R, which houses up to 4 x SPE-400B four channel encoder blades, join the SPE-100 single channel encoder in providing a cost-effective and easy to implement method of adding analogue cameras to an IP/network based video surveillance system. All three encoders enable images captured by an analogue camera to be transmitted in real-time across a network at 4-CIF resolution. A multi-streaming feature provides the option of utilising H.264, MPEG-4 or MJPEG compression to minimise bandwidth consumption by simultaneously transmitting images at various frame rates and resolutions to different locations on a network. |

Genie has released a new range of cameras using the Pixim Seawolf sensors including the MD83TSPX dome. With the Seawolf technology, Genie now offers users cameras with an effective resolution of 690 TV lines and powerful wide dynamic range. Genie say that the cameras require an impressive 0.1 lux of illumination to produce usable colour images. Other features include 3D motion adaptive digital noise reduction, 12 zone privacy masking and selectable backlight compensation. |
